Neighborhood Goods to open first store in Los Angeles
At 3828 Sunset Boulevard, in Silver Lake, in place of Surplus Value Center, the new NeighborhoodClosed
According to sources, Neighborhood Goods will open a boutique space complete with an Italian restaurant and is hiring the architecture agency Design Bitches, founded by Catherine Johnson and Rebecca Rudolph, to design the place.
The store will be located in Sunset Junction, a section of the Silver Lake neighborhood that has been undergoing a transformation over the past decade. Formerly a gay enclave, where Harvey Milk conceived in 1950 the Mattachine Society, one of the first gay rights group in the country, a place of independent spirits and pirate radio, Silver Lake has seen, in recent years, global brands take precedence over small independent businesses, as with the arrival of a Shake Shack restaurant and fashion stores such as A.P.C., Buck Mason, Maison Kitsuné, and more recently, Madewell
Neighborhood Goods is a Dallas-based company founded by Matt Alexander and Mark Masinter as a startup in 2017. Envisioned as the next-generation department store, Neighborhood Goods first opened in Plano, Texas a 10,000-square-foot space offering emerging fashion combined with lifestyle, beauty, fragrance, jewelry, home décor and Taschen
The company, which raised $ 27.5 million in funding, to bring its concept all over the U.S., now has two more stores; one in New York, with a space in Chelsea Market, in the Meatpacking District, and the other in Austin, opening in the South Congress neighborhood, in 2020.
Another project to open in Newport Beach has also been announced.
