Spring has come early thanks to Reese Witherspoon and Kohl’s with an exclusive capsule collection called Draper James RSVP that will give you modern-day Bridgerton vibes.
“The collection turned out so beautiful, and we’re so happy to be launching at Kohl’s. It’s very floral and feminine, like Bridgerton,” Witherspoon tells Glamour. “There’s this sense of escape and an idea that there’s pageantry to things, that we can get dressed up again. It’s a really exciting, optimistic feeling, so we wanted to do something fun, like you were invited to a great party after being cooped up inside between this very cold winter and the pandemic.”
To showcase the collection, Witherspoon and the Kohl’s team created an elaborate outdoor garden party set that perfectly vibes with the Morning Show’s charismatic and sunny disposition. “It was just so fun to see [the set designers] decorating with florals and candles and all the fancy things. Unfortunately, I had to leave when it was all over because it wasn’t my house,” she says with a laugh.
While the decor may not be up for sale, at least the clothes are: pastel and nautical-themed dresses, structured blazers, bodysuits, blouses, cardigans, jean jackets, skirts, rompers, capris, and more. “The Kohl’s team said, ‘You know, we’re really missing that kind of lively, bold, joyful clothing that Draper James makes,’ so we were really excited to collaborate with them.”
There were three important requirements for the RSVP collection, starting with affordable prices. “People want something new in their closet but don’t want to break the bank, so we priced the clothes between $44 and $98,” Witherspoon says.
The other requirement was that it be more size inclusive, with styles ranging from XS to XXL (or 0–18). “We tried to be mindful of every age group and every body type,” she says. “And when there’s a female design team, we actually know what women wear, and we design to it, because we all want to be able to wear it ourselves. So it’s really fun to come up with things that we find are missing in the marketplace.”
And finally, Witherspoon wanted all the looks to be wearable at every holiday or or event. “It’s not just about Easter,” she says. “My Jewish friends are so happy to have all these gorgeous options as well, whether it’s Passover or something else. It’s about all the holidays in spring that you want to get dressed up for.”

“We wanted to have these bold, popped-color yellows and greens and reds, just to add a little bit of something different for the customer at Kohl’s,” she says.
“I love these paper-bag-style shorts [below]. It’s such a retro style for me. It’s so flattering to have that cinched-in waist. Everything has beautiful tailoring, really beautiful construction, and it’s made to make you feel comfortable and elegant and beautiful. Effortless is what we’re going for.”
“I wear sneakers with every single one of these dresses, and then I can change into sandals, but versatility is really important—and comfort.”
“We have a lot of maxi dresses if you just want to cover up a little bit. But we have some shorter silhouettes for people who maybe want to go out at night and show a little more leg.”
Oh, and one more thing: “They’re putting our RSVP line really close to all the Sephoras inside Kohl’s,” Witherspoon says. “I’m like, ‘Oh, one-stop shopping.’ Pick up your makeup and your Draper James dress, and you’re ready to go!”
