Everyone has to have their Pretty Woman moment, even Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge.
By “Pretty Woman moment,” I mean when someone wears a polka-dot dress and a matching hat to an equestrian event—and Kate Middleton pulled it off in a classic Kate Middleton way.
The duchess wore an Alessandra Rich polka-dot dress for her appearance on day four of Royal Ascot, the famous horse race, on Friday, June 17. Middleton’s high-neck dress has long sleeves with subtle puffy detailing at the shoulder. It falls to a few inches above her ankles and has a twisted fabric detail across the bodice and a built-in belt that accentuates the waist.
Duchess Kate paired the look with light brown pointed-toe heels, pearl drop earrings, and a brown fascinator with dainty white flowers. She pulled it all together with a neutral eye shadow look with a berry red lip, and wore her hair in a sophisticated low bun.

The dress is reminiscent of a dress Princess Diana wore to the same event in 1988—a year before Pretty Woman was filmed:
Kate, who has been wearing outfits with a nod to Diana lately, attended the event alongside her husband Prince William, who wore a black top hat.
Diana—and Julia Roberts, for that matter—surely would’ve been proud.
