American great Serena Williams continued her preparations for next week’s Australian Open with a straight-sets victory over fellow veteran Ajla Tomljanovic in the second round of the Adelaide International 2 on Tuesday.
The 23-times Grand Slam champion, who has slipped to 80th in the rankings, fired down 15 aces and saved all four break points she faced to prevail 6-3, 6-2 in just 69 minutes.
It was the 39-year-old’s second win since returning from an 11-month injury layoff and she was delighted with her performance.
