California will hold an election on Sept. 14, 2021, to decide whether to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom, Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber announced Monday after the recall campaign submitted enough valid signatures to force the vote.
The announcement from Weber, who is overseeing the recall election process, came about an hour after another group opposed to recalling Newsom, Vote No on the Republican Recall, announced that the recall campaign had submitted 1.7 million signatures — more than enough to push the recall to the ballot.
