President Joe Biden’s endorsement of Stacey Abrams in her bid to become Georgia’s next governor could be a major blow to Republican incumbent Brian Kemp, an exclusive poll commissioned by the University of Georgia and Atlanta Journal-Constitution has found.
The poll, which was conducted before Biden’s endorsement was announced, found Abrams leading Kemp by 5 points among likely voters, 49% to 44%. When Biden’s endorsement was factored in, Abrams’ lead jumped to 12 points, 56% to 44%.
The poll also found that Biden’s favorability rating in Georgia is 54%, while Kemp’s is just 42%. This suggests that Biden’s endorsement could help Abrams win over moderate and even some Republican voters.
