**Victim in Eastlake Shooting Was a 51-Year-Old Woman Doing Laundry**
At approximately 11 p.m. August 26, 2023, East Precinct officers responded to a report of a shooting near Eastlake Avenue East and East Thomas Street. Upon arrival, officers located a 51-year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds. Seattle Fire Department medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. Despite efforts to save her life, the victim died at the hospital.
Witnesses told police they heard an argument, followed by gunshots. Officers learned a male suspect had fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival. Witnesses described the suspect as a Black man, approximately six feet tall, with a thin build, short dreadlocks, and wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt.
Homicide detectives responded and are actively investigating this incident. Detectives are releasing a photo of the suspect in the hope that someone will recognize him and contact police. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Homicide tip line at 206-233-5000.
