J.C. Penney launches exclusive Prabal Gurung collection
American retailer J.C. Penney has introduced a new exclusive collection by award-winning fashion designer Prabal Gurung
Dubbed ‘ImPower by Prabal Gurung’, the affordable spring collection features 25 size-inclusive styles including dresses and jumpsuits for every occasion, inspired by florals.
“I am so proud of this collaboration with highly celebrated designer, Prabal Gurung, and our ability to make high-quality fashion accessible to all,” said J.C. Penney chief merchandising officer, Michelle Wlazlo.
“Through this limited-edition collection, we are bringing the beauty of inclusivity to life with vibrant colors and feminine designs. This partnership celebrates women and exemplifies our mission to provide quality and value to our customers.”
The collection launches with a campaign featuring six powerful business owners, founders, icons and trailblazers including Shalom Harlow, Natalia Bryant, Varsha Thapa, Nyakio Grieco, Cece Meadows and Sara Happ.
Created by J.C. Penney’s in-house creative agency and shot by photographer, Norman Jean Roy in New York City, the campaign coincides with Women’s History Month with the aim to celebrate it.
As part of the campaign, J.C. Penney will also donate $10,000 to each campaign talent’s designated charity or cause along with Shikshya Foundation Nepal, the foundation that Prabal closely works with.
“This collaboration with J.C. Penney is a joyful tribute to the power and resilience of the female spirit,” said the New York-based designer.
“This collection is a celebration of diversity, inclusion and optimism and is an ode to the women who have held my hand and helped me grow. To me, beauty is inclusion in every size, every color, and that is the world I live in and the world I wanted to create with this collection.”
Gurung launched his eponymous collection in 2009. Most recently, in 2022, he was honored as the Designer of the Year at the American Image Awards. He was also elected as vice chair of the Council of Fashion Designers of America
