Jennifer Lawrence has delivered a hat trick of near-perfect red-carpet looks during her No Hard Feelings tour this week—eschewing anything Y2K-inspired in favor of sleek, polished minimalism.
Having touched down in London wearing The Row (and Tiffany & Co.’s Elsa Peretti Sevillana pendant), the Oscar winner slipped into a silk dress by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Anita Ko jewellery for an appearance in Leicester Square. Lifted from Dior’s autumn-winter 2023 runway, the dress featured a sheer bodice, but was (mercifully) a far cry from yet another naked dress. Instead, it felt glamorous yet grown-up—a look worthy of the icons that inspired Chiuri’s collection, from Juliette Gréco to Edith Piaf, punched up with leather opera gloves (UK heatwave, be damned).
In Madrid on Wednesday, meanwhile, the 32-year-old wore a crisp white shirtdress by Alaïa—made photo-call-appropriate thanks to the belt cinched around her waist and a pair of Manolo Blahnik Jadarona mules, the kind of shoe Barbie might wear if her stylist heard about the “stealth-wealth” trend.
It’s J.Law’s nighttime outfit, though, that has proved a particular talking point: a beige bustier dress from Loewe’s autumn-winter 2023 collection, the cotton-velvet fabric deliberately cut to stand stiffly away from the body. Jonathan Anderson described the collection—which marked 10 years since his tenure at Loewe began—as “couture classicism meeting something which is new.” Happily, Lawrence’s stylist Jamie Mizrahi kept the accessories to the bare minimum, too, allowing Anderson’s design to have its moment in the spotlight.
If Jennifer Lawrence’s red-carpet style has historically tipped towards the princessy—think A-line dresses with shimmering embellishments—her recent appearances suggest she’s entered a new high-fashion era. Long may it continue.
