Joey King’s glamorous skirt is definitely too big to fit in a kissing booth.
On Thursday, June 16, King attended the premiere of her latest film, The Princess, in L.A. wearing the biggest ball skirt we’ve seen since Rihanna hit the Grammys red carpet in Giambattista Valli in 2015.
The star blended glam with punk for the occasion in a look from Christian Siriano. The 22-year-old paired the red tulle ball skirt adorned with ruffles with an asymmetrical bra top, which includes straps that connect to a built-in choker. As if the look wasn’t edgy enough, King slipped on a pair of slouchy black leather gloves.
King knew the over-the-top look needed minimal styling, so she wore her hair down in soft waves, and kept her makeup neutral with a summery smoky eye and rosy lips. The actor went easy on the jewelry, wearing subtle silver drop earrings.
King plays the titular character in Hulu’s new show about “a strong-willed princess” who “refuses to wed a cruel sociopath,” per the streamer. “She is kidnapped and locked in a remote tower. With her scorned, vindictive suitor intent on taking her father’s throne, the princess must protect her family and save the kingdom.”
The film is a sharp left turn for King, whose acting roles are as varied as her red-carpet looks. In addition to tween hits like The Kissing Booth, the actor also starred in The Act alongside Patricia Arquette, who won an Emmy for her role in the true-crime drama.
Stream The Princess on July 1.
